Brumbies Young set for 99th Super cap against Highlanders

Brumbies head coach Laurie Fisher has named his team for Saturday night's must-win Tooheys New Super 14 Week Thirteen clash with the Highlanders at Canberra Stadium.

The main injury concern leading into today's training session was that of flyhalf Gene Fairbanks, who is now a confirmed starter after passing a fitness test on his injured right knee.

Fisher has made just one change to the team that held the Reds scoreless at Canberra Stadium last weekend, with Bill Young set to return at loosehead prop for his 99th Super Rugby match, while Nic Henderson takes his place on the reserves bench.

The veteran Brumbies prop is looking forward to another tussle with world-class Highlanders tighthead Carl Hayman.

"It's great to be able to test yourself against the best and I'd certainly put Carl Hayman in with the best tightheads in the world at the moment," said Young.

"They've also got one of the best hookers in the world in Anton Oliver, add Clarke Dermody and they've got one of the best front rows in the competition so it will be a good test for us," he said.

Young, who is on the verge of becoming the third Brumby to reach triple-figure caps, said that the Brumbies were yet to find top gear on the eve of the finals.

"We've been building momentum, which is the pleasing aspect. We've been progressive. Since the Waratahs setback we've certainly moved our game forward.

We haven't produced the type of performance we're looking for yet, but certain parts of our game are coming together," he said.

Coach Laurie Fisher said that the team's focus was solely on Saturday's vital clash with the Highlanders.

"Our focus is on putting in a good performance against the Highlanders. After that we can reflect on results from other games and set new targets for the following week," he said.

"If we win our final two matches we will be in the semi-finals. That's what we can control and that's our focus for now," he said.
