The Cheetahs have been hit by the loss of Adriaan Strauss who will miss the rest of the Super 14 season with a shoulder injury.
Bok hooker Strauss suffered cartilage damage in his shoulder on the Cheetahs tour through Australia and New Zealand and he will now undergo surgery.
That means that he will miss the next three months of rugby.
Eighthman Frans Viljoen who missed the tour down under has been named in the team to face the Blues this weekend.
Bjorn Basson who showed good form in the early rounds of the Super 14 in Bloemfontein replaces Danwel Demas on the wing.
