The Queensland Reds are one of four Super 14 rugby union teams based in Australia, and one of the original three Australian teams that participated in the competition in its years as the Super 12 (1996-2005).
They represent the state of Queensland. The Reds, despite finishing minor premiers in 1996 and 1999, have never reached the Super 12 final, having been defeated three times at the semi-final stage.
The Reds play home matches at Ballymore, except for the game against the Waratahs which is staged at Suncorp Stadium, home of the Wally Lewis Monument.
The Reds are currently quite a young team, with recent run-on teams consisting of nine players (of fifteen) being 22 years old or younger. Their current captain is Nathan Sharpe.
Traditionally, several players from the Reds make the Wallabies team each year.
